Mental Health Benefits

This challenge coincides with mental health awareness week which runs from 10 – 16 May so we want to highlight the mental health benefits of getting active and taking part. This is particularly important this year as many people have struggled with their mental health during lockdown.

  • Exercise can help you sleep better and improve your mood. Doing a physical activity releases feel-good hormones which help you to feel happier and boosts your energy levels.

  • Completing a challenge gives your brain something to focus on and gives you something to work towards which can boost your self-esteem.

  • Getting active can help with anxiety and stress management.

  • Taking part in a group activity with friends or by meeting new people can help to reduce loneliness and feelings of social isolation.
